Week Notes - "Someone tell me what the hell is going on here?"

I mentioned in my previous weeknotes that a change was coming0. I've left the Civil Service. I've started my new consultancy. And now... I've got a new job!

A previous regeneration saw me catapulted into the world of health tech at NHSX. Then another saw me go to data. Then over to cyber. And now…

Just like an unexpected1 David Tennant coming back for a few episodes, I'm coming back to health again!

I've joined Our Future Health as their Principal Privacy Architect2.

The first four days have been spent getting my IT set up, meeting as many people as I can, finding good food stalls near the office3, and learning all about the unique set of challenges they face.

And on the fifth day? I rested.

Yup, I've joined the ranks of the four-day-a-week-ers. My Fridays will be spent on working for my consultancy clients, play in VR, working on my upcoming book4, catching up on all the Steam games I've bought and the library books I've earmarked, learning how to use a laser cutter, and - of course - making sure dinner is on the table when my hard-working wife gets home from the office.

Of course, this blog remains personal. I'm not going to be talking about the work I do here - but find me at a conference talk, or stalk me on LinkedIn, and you'll get a good idea of what's going on.

As for this Friday? I mostly intend to watch this Doctor Who trailer on repeat.

  1. And not a moment too soon! ↩︎

  2. But thoroughly welcome! ↩︎

  3. Of course, in the first "hello" message I sent to everyone, I managed to misspell my job title as Principle. I was hired to think, not to spell↩︎

  4. I am more falafel now than man. ↩︎

  5. Snuck that one in there, didn't I! ↩︎
