Certified Blockchain Professional - Part 1

Why do I do this to myself? Why?

As part of my ongoing MSc, I have to take 3 professional training courses. I've completed my cybersecurity course, and I have a Machine Learning course booked for January. So what to do next?

There's a lot of discussion in government0 circles about Blockchain. As with any new tech, there are plenty of Thought Leaders™ and sales drones trying to push it. For every one person with a legitimately useful idea, there are 99 scammers and grifters.

I'm not a big fan. But - and it is a big but - I acknowledge that I might be wrong. If I am wrong, then I want to have a decent grounding in this new and exciting technology. If I am right, then I want to have credentials to help me prove my arguments. Basically, the next time someone says that I'm only dismissing an idea because I don't understand the tech - I want to whip out my certificate.

So, after discussing the matter with my tutor, I've enrolled on the EC Council's Certified Blockchain Professional course.

It is worth noting that EC Council have a bit of a poor reputation. Sadly, they were the only course provider offered.

This is a self-directed course over around 50 hours. Which means I need to manage my time carefully. It's basically watching a bunch of videos, reading a book, and playing in their sandbox lab. I've got 6 months to do it in - although the exam can be taken up until December 2022.

So this series of blog posts will be some notes to myself, some reflection, and some questions. I've no idea how I'm going to get on with it - but I have an open mind.

Here we go…!

Looking forward to what you come up with. I need to read more (well informed) discerning eyes when it comes to blockchain, etc.
