Interview in Colors Magazine #75 - Cease Fear
This blog post was written in 2023 about events in 2008. Such are the joys of time travel…
In August 2008, I published a blog post about being stopped and searched by the British Transport Police as part of The War Against Terror. A journalist, Elena Favilli contacted me asking if I'd be interviewed about the experience.
I agreed and, in November 2008, they shot the following video:
It was strange being interviewed and photographed. At the time it wasn't something I was experienced at. I found it all rather fun seeing how a photographer and interviewer worked together. At the same time I was acutely aware that I didn't want this incident to become the defining moment of my life.
The interview was published on the (now defunct) Colors website:
I think I was a little disappointed not to have been featured in the final magazine - although they were kind enough to send me a copy.

Ex and I got stopped and searched by West German border police for 2.5 hours.
We were on an international train (The Tauern-Orient Express) at the time, and they held it stationary while they searched us and everything we had with us (backpacking/InterRail around Europe). #FunTimes funtimes

I didn't remember you were also interviewed for that issue of Colors Magazine. With Elena was photographer Piero Martinello and video artist Heloisa Sartorato. It was a nice team. They also had a plan of creating a deck of cards of the interviewees however that didn't happen either. I wrote about my interview in 2009: https://gizmonaut.net/blog/uk/2009/03/colors-magazine_cease-fear.html
I wonder if the Thai restaurant they also interviewed still exists. I did eat there a few times.
