I'm just so bored of AI

I'm just so bored of talking about AI. It's like listening to vapers tell me how delicious their flavoured poison is.

Did you ever meet someone at university who'd just tried drugs for the first time? Listening to a stoner ramble on about their mystic crystal revelations is amusing for the first five minutes, but quickly gets tiresome. Wow! You got your little computer friend to automate calling your mum? Great job, mate! Can we talk about something interesting now?

Just as bad are the people telling me how bad smoking is for my health. Yes, I know! That's why I don't. Yes, I know that hanging out with friends while they smoke is bad for me - but loneliness is probably worse. In fact, you screaming about how every puff on a fag reduces my life expectancy by 37 seconds makes me want to inhale a whole cigar so I can die early enough to exit this tedious conversation.

If you want to enhance your consciousness / rot your brain with AI - go ahead. Just stop wanging on about it like you discovered the secret to eternal life.

And to the rest of you, stop pissing on people's chips. Haranguing and scolding have never convinced anyone of everything.

I can't fucking wait for this bubble to burst so we can go back to chatting shit about literally anything else.

  1. I'm willing to go back to the days the tech hipsters wouldn't shut up about kube and the latest Prometheus-compatible datastore that was definitely the most optimized one.

The kube channel at work hasn't seen a new message in 6 months cause everyone's in the AI channel posting new model releases.

  2. “Like a young child coming home from kindergarten with their latest crayon scrawls, the internet is currently awash with people sharing their AI-generated work. And just like the young child’s drawings, much of that work should be proudly put up on the walls within the artist’s house—and no further.” — Rmoff

  3. Guilty! Not about AI, which I use occasionally, or tobacco, which I stopped using a few years ago, but yes about other things. I went to uni when I was 39. It facilitated a paradigm shift in my life, but I know my non-university friends quickly grew weary of my enthusiasm. Ten years later another single-topic-obsession arrived when I decided to adopt a dog, who was also a life changer. I suddenly felt like those new parents, who prattle on incessantly about the wonderful miracle they have been blessed with. If I ever have kids I may become a complete social pariah!

  4. Considers calling out the Luddites here as a subtle piece of rage-bait.

Considers if the post was rage-bait.

Considers having another cup of tea.

    Decides that's better.

Asks ChatGPT what the best tea is for this situation, and drinks the battery acid it recommends.
