Disappointed in Meta. Very bad and experience purchasing Oculus 2: I was recently excited to purchase Oculus 2 VR Goggles. I read some posts about it being a great way to exercise, and I wanted in. I went onto Amazon, purchased it new, but when it arrived the controllers would not pair. I decided to check the batteries, and in doing so I realized that the controllers were used, to the extent that the writing had been worn off. Realizing that the seller on Amazon had sold me a used and defective product, I returned the item, got a refund, and purchased another “new” Oculus 2 from Best Buy. Out of the box, this time the controllers paired, but nothing would pair the headset. After a day of trying everything… and researching why pressing the Oculus button, which should bring up a Settings menu, did not bring up this menu… I contacted customer support. Customer support was difficult to reach; but when I was finally contacted (after giving a 1 star and complaining that I was unable to get human assistance), they were on the case. First thing they suggested was to open the Settings menu. When I explained that no menu was available, they asked me to send the serial number both on the box and on the Oculus goggles themselves, which I did. The response from Meta when they received my serial numbers? That I would have to send back the goggles and that they would replace them with a refurbished set. I was shocked. I wrote back saying that I purchased this full price so that it would be new, and that they were offering me refurbished where I had no idea how much the product was used, etc., and that this was simply inappropriate. Meta’s response: they could only offer me a used replacement. At full price. No discount. So after purchasing this product twice, which was defective twice, I was offered a used product in exchange. This was nothing short of insulting. Even much smaller companies would offer a discount for a refurbished replacement, but not Meta. And frankly, I don’t care to purchase refurbished or I would have done so in the first place. Very disappointed in Meta.
