A fun idea occurred to me; you could set up some sort of printing device that would print book covers as you read them, on some sort of scroll-based roll of paper. As you progress through an e-book, the printer prints more and more of the cover. Abandoned books would be cut off halfway through. I'm not sure what you'd do about reading multiple books at once, though!
