@Edent I knew someone with a great riposte to any claim that the majority (usually 55% to 90%) of communication was non verbal.

He switched to Hungarian in mid sentence; after about 30 seconds, the person making the claim would be thoroughly confused. Then he would switch back to English and say, "well, you should have understood 55% of that..." Or 90%, as appropriate.

(His wife was Hungarian; and he, an English speaker, had learned enough Hungarian to chat to his in-laws.)
