Sonnet #142
luv is my sin, & thy dear virtue hate,
Hate of my sin, grounded on sinful loving,
O bt wiv mine, compare thou thine own state,
& thou shalt find it merits nt reproving,
/ if it do, nt frm those lips of thine,
th@ hv profaned thr scarlet ornaments,
& sealed false bonds of luv as oft as mine,
Robbed others' beds' revenues of thr rents.
b it lawful I luv thee as thou lov'st those,
Whom thine eyes woo as mine importune thee,
Root pity in thy heart th@ when it grows,
Thy pity may deserve 2 pitied be.
If thou dost Ck 2 hv wot thou dost hide,
By self-example mayst thou b denied.
